Using HTMX To Make Interactive Elements In Drupal
HTMX is a small JavaScript library that allows interactive elements and Ajax requests to be made without writing a line of JavaScript. It's fully platform agnostic and just needs a backend system to drive the output.
HTMX was introduced as part of the Ajax subsystem in Drupal 11.3. This is one of the biggest changes to the Ajax system in Drupal since the release of Drupal 8. Since Drupal 11.3 is out it's a good idea to start looking into HTMX and how it is used in Drupal.
This talk will introduce you to HTMX outside of Drupal, by looking at a couple of examples of using the package to create interactive elements without writing JavaScript at all.
We will then look at how HTMX can be used in Drupal interfaces to create interactive elements that can pull and push data to the Drupal backend system.
This talk will assume you have a basic knowledge of Drupal components like blocks and pages. Everything else will be HTMX.
